Carbon Offset Programme

In 2008 Water will become carbon-neutral.

As part of an overall process to minimise the effect we have on the environment, Water is becoming carbon-neutral via a United Nations ratified carbon-offset programme. But it doesn't end there: we will additionally be working to a 5-year carbon-reduction plan to reduce our need to offset in the long term.

Facts

1.

The energy consumption of plumbed-in and bottled water coolers is identical. However, mains water used for plumbed-in units does have carbon-emission values associated with it that are beyond our control.

2.

The water we supply is from Hadlow in Kent and is bottled without energy-intensive processing in a returnable, recyclable polycarbonate container. At the end of its life, the bottle is broken up and recycled.

3.

Stories in the press regarding bottled water being bad for the environment relate specifically to the small bottles of water that you may buy in the supermarket. Unlike ours, these small bottles of water are usually supplied in PET containers which have invariably been transported across the continent and most often end up in landfill waste sites.

4.

Water is committed to a process of reducing carbon emissions. We are also committed to establishing only true facts about water, health and hydration, and working with these facts to improve our understanding of the issues our customers face in choosing the best product for their needs. We supply local water to local people and are passionate about meeting people’s hydration needs with the least environmental impact possible.
